Loisaba Tented Camp had recently undergone a refurbishment, what changes are you most excited about
The refurbishment at Loisaba Tented Camp has breathed new life into a very special place. It wasn’t a major overhaul, more a thoughtful refresh (new paints, furniture, and lighting) but the impact has been remarkable. Walking through the camp now, there’s a renewed sense of warmth and calm - it’s almost magical. The colours feel lighter, the spaces flow better, and everything has this quiet confidence about it
What I love most is that it still feels undeniably Loisaba - wild, open, and connected to the landscape - except it now carries a renewed modern edge, like it’s caught its second wind.
Guests feel it too; from the moment they enter reception, they will say things like “Wow, it’s beautiful.” For me, the best part is knowing it gets better, nothing can prepare you for the moment you enter the main dining area - the thoughtful soft touches, textures and colours blend into a sweeping view that can only be appreciated when seen. It’s a reminder that even small changes, done thoughtfully, can completely rejuvenate a place without losing the soul that makes it special.
A further ten white rhinos were translocated to Loisaba last month, have many guests enjoyed rhino sightings and what feedback have you received
It’s been such a privilege to witness the arrival of the ten Southern White Rhinos at Loisaba (now 11 - as a baby was born).
Their translocation marks a huge milestone for Loisaba Conservancy and for all of us who are proud to be a part of this incredible place. The sense of pride and hope that comes with seeing rhinos back on this landscape is hard to put into words - it’s conservation in action, right before our eyes.
Guests have been absolutely thrilled. Many have enjoyed sightings of both species simultaneously (black and White) while out on game drives, but one of the most special things is that you don’t even have to leave camp to see them.
Early yesterday morning, I stood on the main deck with guests, coffee in hand, watching three of the Southern Whites grazing peacefully below us - calm, unbothered, completely at home. Moments like that remind me how far we’ve come.
The feedback has been incredible - guests describe the experience as humbling and deeply moving. For many, it’s the first time they’ve seen rhino in the wild, and to know that it’s happening here, in partnership with Loisaba Conservancy, makes it all the more meaningful.
There are plenty of activities available at Loisaba, what would be your top recommends
That’s always a tough one, because the beauty of Loisaba is that there’s genuinely something for everyone. Of course, the safaris are front and centre - those early mornings out in the valley, the light, the wildlife - it’s what people come for, and it never disappoints. But beyond that, the range of activities here is what really makes Loisaba special.
For guests interested in conservation, the anti-poaching and cultural visits are always eye-opening - they really connect people to the story of the land and the work being done behind the scenes. For the more adventurous, there’s mountain biking, e-biking, and night game drives that bring a bit of adrenaline into the mix.
Then you’ve got the four-legged options - horse safaris and camel rides - which are incredible because you get so close to the wildlife in complete silence. Add in a guided walk or a bit of fishing, and it rounds off the experience beautifully.
And if you really want to do something unforgettable, the Heli Safari with Africa Heli Adventures is on another level. Flying low through the valleys and over the craters is something that’s hard to describe - it’s the kind of experience that changes how you see this part of the world.
What is it you enjoy most about the Loisaba Conservancy and what has been your favourite animal sighting
What I love most about Loisaba Conservancy is how alive it feels - there’s this incredible sense of space and freedom, and yet everywhere you look, something is happening. It’s one of the few places where conservation, wildlife, and community all thrive side by side, and you feel that energy the moment you arrive.
As for sightings, Loisaba has spoiled me - but the leopards here are something else. We’re incredibly lucky with how abundant they are, and watching a mother with her cubs never gets old. My all-time favourite moment, though, was seeing an interaction between a cheetah and a leopard. The cheetah was teasing the leopard - darting in, taunting it, then sprinting off and coming back again - like a mischievous child testing its limits. It went on for several minutes, and we were all just sitting there, completely mesmerized. Moments like that remind you how wild and unpredictable nature really is.
Are there any other new activities or upgrades in the pipeline for Loisaba Tented Camp
Looking ahead, 2026 is going to be an exciting year for us at Loisaba Tented Camp. We’ll be moving to an all-inclusive activities model, which means every guest will be able to experience the full range of what Loisaba has to offer - from guided walks and camel rides to biking and cultural visits - without thinking twice about what’s included. It’s a great step toward giving guests a more seamless, immersive experience.
In terms of upgrades, there’s nothing major on the horizon - more a case of refining and perfecting what’s already here and adding some convenient comforts to the rooms. Loisaba is already such an incredible product, and our focus now is on the small details that elevate the experience even further. Whether it’s improving comfort, enhancing service flow, or finding new ways to surprise our guests, it’s all about building on what makes this place so special.
