As part of an official trip to Tanzania, HRH Sophie the Duchess of Edinburgh found time whilst staying at the Arusha Coffee Lodge to visit Shanga. The team were proud to have the opportunity to show their work and present the Duchess with a unique scarf designed especially for her. The scarf took three days of meticulous craftsmanship to make, utilising the team’s valuable skills and sustainable materials.

The Duchess of Edinburgh was visiting Tanzania to see the work of international organisations including Sightsavers, Uniting to Combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and the Alliance of Bioversity and International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). During the visit, The Duchess met the President of Tanzania, Her Excellency the Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and the President of Zanzibar, His Excellency Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, as well as healthcare providers, and members of local communities.
