duncan and doreenDuncan during his days as a scholar

Thanks to the support of Land & Life through his education, Wildlife Warrior graduate Duncan now has a bright future ahead and is excelling in his new role at Lewa Safari Camp. Duncan grew up near Meru National Park, in the Ura Gate Community, a remote corner of northern Kenya; here he attended Ura Gate Primary, a Land & Life supported school where he grew his passion for wildlife and conservation while taking part in the Wildlife Warrior Programme. After school, he received a bursary from the Land & Life Foundation to study Tourism Management at the Co-operative University in Nairobi.

Duncan joined Lewa Safari Camp in 2021 for a work experience placement. A quiet but energetic young man, during his first month he impressed everyone by running the Lewa Marathon without a day’s training. During Duncan's first month, he spent time moving between the lodge's different departments, learning everything from how to do a turndown service to making the best passion fruit mojito. It was his mojito making skills that convinced everyone that he would make a great barman.

Duncan has proved himself time and time again and we are extremely proud of his Land & Life and Elewana journey. Duncan was recently promoted to storeman, a position with great responsibility that will allow him to continue to grow.
