LEPC LSC NewVideos

With the opening of the stunning new Little Elephant Pepper Camp and the reopening of the beautifully upgraded Lewa Safari Camp, new video provides a first look into these two Kenyan camps.

The Little Elephant Pepper Camp video can be accessed here and Lewa Safari Camp video is available here.

The videos highlight the warmth and authentic character of each camp and the incredible wildlife viewing that safari goers will be able to enjoy during their stay.

NewSafariVehicle

A new custom photography-spec safari vehicle arrived at Tortilis Camp Amboseli ensuring guests enjoy greater flexibility when photographing wildlife. Tortilis Camp Amboseli is the first Elewana property to receive the decked-out transport.

The new vehicle sits lower than standard safari vehicles, allowing for improved shooting angles and easier access. It also offers reduced rear seating, with four rear seats instead of six. This ensures each guest has more room to position themselves and their equipment comfortably. The vehicle also provides additional shooting space with approximately twice the usual amount of space in front of the first two rear seats. This allows for significantly more room for camera gear and movement and can also accommodate a mattress when required.

Additional features include a fold-down side door, creating a more open shooting position and greater flexibility when photographing wildlife. Every seat is fitted with a rubber-mounted bean bag camera support, providing a stable platform for cameras and long lenses while on safari. Finally, each seat has its own charging facilities, enabling photographers to keep cameras, phones and other equipment powered throughout the game drive.

CraneBird

The Kenyan Ministry of Health has issued a mandatory inbound travel insurance requirement for all travellers visiting Kenya for stays of less than 12 months. The requisite states that travellers must hold a valid travel insurance policy from their country of origin, with a cumulative benefit limit of no less than USD 50,000.

This must include the following minimum health insurance benefit limits:

  • Medical Expenses - USD 20,000
  • Emergency Medical Transportation - USD 25,000
  • Prescribed Medicines - USD 300
  • Mental Illness - USD 1,000
  • Repatriation of Mortal Remains - USD 5,000

Kenya's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) application will also be updated soon to request that each applicant upload proof of their travel insurance cover for verification at the point of application. Until the updated ETA system is live, guests should carry a copy of their policy (showing the relevant benefit limits) with them on arrival, in case it's requested. Guests who arrive without appropriate cover will still be able to purchase a suitable policy on arrival, through an approved provider licensed under the Insurance Act. We will continue to monitor this closely and will share an updated ETA Application Guide as soon as the system reflects these changes.

FurnitureDonation

Following the successful relocation of the Elewana Collection head office to The Piano, Nairobi, 62 pieces of office furniture were donated to four partner schools in Meru and Narok counties in July 2026 through Elewana’s sustainability arm, the Land & Life Foundation.

The furniture, including office desks, chairs, drawers and cabinets, is helping schools create more functional workspaces for teachers and administrators, while contributing to more organised and effective learning environments for students.

Mr. Peter Muntet, Headteacher, Embiti Primary School comments on the donation “This support has come at the right time. It will help our teachers mark learners’ assessments more efficiently and store teaching materials safely. Most importantly, it will improve our working environment and enable us to serve our learners even better.”

The initiative is part of Elewana Collection’s commitment to Impact-Driven Community Development and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

Through the Land & Life Foundation, Elewana continues to support practical initiatives that respond to the needs of partner communities around our properties.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is thrilled to welcome Lina to its impressive anti-poaching unit. Born on February 24, 2025, Lina carries a 75% Bloodhound and 25% Doberman lineage. The Bloodhound in her brings an extraordinary nose, capable of following a scent across time and broken ground while her Doberman traits bring strength, resilience and focus, a perfect combination for Lewa’s rugged terrain.

Joseph Piroris, Lewa’s Deputy Head of the Anti-Poaching unit said on choosing Lina “What truly set Lina apart was not something you can breed for. The moment her nose hit a scent trail, everything else fell away, as if the world narrowed to a single thread only she could follow. Among all seven candidates the team looked at for the role, she showed the most locked-in focus the team had seen, steady and unwavering even in difficult conditions. Yet outside that intensity, she was gentle, friendly, and full of life - the kind of presence that lifts those around her”.

Guests staying at Lewa Safari Camp can book a free visit to see the amazing work of the conservancy’s anti-poaching unit.

Please could you tell us a little about what your role as Operations Manager for Tanzania involves

As Business Operations Manager for Tanzania, my role focuses on ensuring that our properties operate efficiently, consistently and to the high standards expected by our guests, while also supporting Elewana's wider business objectives.

I work closely with the teams across our different properties, supporting day-to-day operations as well as longer-term planning and development. This includes operational performance, guest experience, people and team development, logistics, supplier relationships, cost management and ensuring that our standards are maintained across the portfolio.

One of the most interesting aspects of the role is the diversity of our properties and destinations. Each lodge has its own character and operational challenges, so my role involves finding the right balance between maintaining each property's identity while ensuring we deliver a consistently excellent Elewana experience.

Ultimately, it is about bringing together our people, properties and resources to ensure the business runs smoothly and, most importantly, that our guests have memorable experiences in Tanzania.

What are the main projects you are currently working on

I am currently focused on property improvements, sustainability, staff development, operational efficiencies, guest experience, new products and plans for 2027. Specifically, we are busy improving Kilindi interiors, launching the Taste of Zanzibar cooking experience, activities and general hosting.

I am also working on enhancing the guest experience for bush properties by elevating the quality of bush activities. Improving more private game drive circuits at the Serengeti Migration Camp

Are you able to give us an insight into any future plans

Looking ahead, our focus is very much on continuing to strengthen and develop the Elewana portfolio in Tanzania while remaining true to what makes each property unique. We will continue investing in our existing properties, enhancing the guest experience and ensuring that our lodges and camps remain relevant to the changing expectations of today’s traveller.

We are working hard on improving sustainability policies by moving to Green Operational Management. Sustainability, conservation and responsible tourism will also remain an important part of our future direction, particularly given the incredible environments in which our properties operate.

We are also looking at ways to develop new and more immersive experiences for our guests, encouraging them to explore more of Tanzania and to stay longer. Tanzania has so much to offer beyond the traditional safari experience, and we want to continue showcasing the country through authentic, personalised experiences.

What in your opinion makes Tanzania such an appealing destination

Tanzania is an incredibly special destination because of the sheer variety of experiences it offers. From the Serengeti and the Great Migration to the Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful coastline, there is an extraordinary diversity of landscapes, wildlife and cultures to experience within one country.

What makes Tanzania particularly appealing is that it offers much more than simply seeing wildlife. It is the combination of the incredible natural environment, the people, the local culture, the sense of adventure and the opportunity to experience some truly untouched and remote places. There is also something very authentic about travelling through Tanzania, and I think that is increasingly important to today's traveller.

Elewana complements this beautifully. Our properties are very different from one another, but they all share the same philosophy of providing distinctive, intimate and authentic experiences. Whether a guest is staying in a safari camp in the Serengeti, exploring the northern circuit or enjoying a completely different environment, each property gives them a genuine sense of place.

For me, choosing Elewana is about more than simply choosing accommodation. It is about the overall experience – the location, the people, the attention to detail and the memories that guests take home with them. We want our guests not just to visit Tanzania, but to really experience it.
