Based at: Peponi Plaza, Westlands

Land & Life purpose: L&L is the sustainability arm of the SafariCo group.  Safarico’s focus is in the Kenyan and Tanzanian hospitality sector.  The portfolio of companies included in SafariCo are: Elewana, Sopa, Cheli & Peacock, Sky Safaris and Land and Life.  

Land and Life focuses on critical programmes to uplift the communities in which we operate. The programmes range from Education, Feeding, Community specific infrastructure, building circular economies and ensuring that the entire group is delivering on a group-wide sustainability strategy. 

Job summary:

Land and Life is seeking a Project Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The individual needs to be an organized leader with planning, project management and program startup experience. A detailed oriented leader who is inspired by the challenge of changing the lives of marginalized communities in the geographies we operate. The successful candidate will possess the skills to problem-solve and collaborate with staff across the portfolio of companies.

Overall Roles and responsibilities

  • Develop plans and processes to effectively deliver across the 3 key strategic pillars.  Direct, coordinate, implement, execute, control and complete project, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the organization
  • Create and maintain project plans, administer everyday workflow of all implementation processes and provide support to all team members
  • Ability to multitask and lead  projects 
  • Build strong relationships with community stakeholders
  • Monitor progress and reporting; communicate and work closely with project stakeholders – beneficiaries, partners,  local governments and donors.

Critical Focus Areas:

1. Project Management

  • Work with the team to plan, coordinate and implement all on-going projects including: 
  • Define the scope, tasks, resource requirements, project goals and deliverables per project
  • Manage and schedule timelines for these projects
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the projects
  • Work with the finance team to ensure accurate budgeting and reporting of the project expenditures
  • Work with Community Leaders, Partners, local government authorities as well as other vendors  
  • Identify and research potential partners 
  • Ad-hoc management of issues and risks that may arise

2. Communication  

  • Build and maintain close professional relationships with donors, project beneficiaries, NGOs,  partners, media, vendors and industry players 
  • Assist in the development of key reports and messaging for for media campaigns, social media and other reporting
  • Work with marketing team to plan and execute communication campaigns 
  • Generate and prepare content for the groups’ sustainability annual report
  • Assist in the preparation and management of L&L documentation that includes contracts, publicity materials, grant proposals,  donor reports & briefs, MoUs with L&L partners and project beneficiaries, policies and procedures
  • Manage and maintain L&L digital filing system

Minimum Requirements and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in sustainability, conservation and/or, hospitality or related fields
  • Proven working experience in project management, at least 5 years
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
